FAQs

Wedding photography was never something I thought I would do professionally, until I captured my sister & brother in laws wedding in 2003. I will never forget the feeling I was left with after showing them their wedding photographs for the first time and since then, I haven’t looked back.

I would describe my style as a mix of documentary and classic photography. I like to act as a fly on the wall at weddings, zooming in on moments as they happen naturally. However, I also make sure to get the extremely important “posed” family and bridal party photos.

There is no such thing as booking too early. Popular dates such as New Years Eve, Christmas and Bank holidays can book up about 2 years in advance. Thursday, Fridays & Saturdays, especially during the Summer months, are also very popular and book up quickly. I would recommend getting in touch once you have your date confirmed and we can check the availability for you.

To secure your wedding date, we just require a €400 (non-refundable) booking fee and a completed booking form. When you get in touch with the office, if your date is available and you would like to proceed with your booking, we will send you on all the details you need.

A second payment will be due approx 1-2 weeks before your wedding, usually at your pre-wedding meeting. A final balance will be due once your images are ready for viewing and you have received the login details for your online gallery. Once the final balance has been received, your high resolution images will be available for download from your online gallery.

My travel range varies depending on the time of year. However, I will travel to most places around Ireland, once they are within approx 3. hours from Dublin. There is a small travel fee for locations over approx. an hour from Dublin.

I always begin with my brides, wherever they are getting ready, approx. 2 hours before they are due to walk down the aisle.

Each wedding is different, but a typical wedding day’s coverage is approx 7 hours. I start with my bride approx. 2 hours before the wedding ceremony and will photograph the whole day up until you are both announced and seated for your meal. I also offer the option to extend your coverage to cover up until your first dance for an additional fee (subject to availability).

I always have an assistant on the day of a wedding who acts as a second photographer throughout the day. Their photos will provide another angle of certain moments of your day. However, their main role is to assist and help me with equipment, rounding up family members & guests for photos and generally helping ensure you enjoy as much as your day as possible.

My aim on a wedding day is to make sure you enjoy as much as of your drinks reception as possible. This is why I ensure your family & bridal party photos are taken as soon as possible after your ceremony, whether that happens at the church, en route to your reception or at the venue itself. I would put aside 15 minutes each for family, bridal party and your couple shots, 45 minutes in total. To ensure it doesn’t take longer, make sure everyone is aware of when and where your photos are taking place.

This is an extremely important meeting between myself and my wedding couple which takes place online via Zoom approx 1-2 weeks before the big day. This is a chance to sit down and discuss the details and logistics of your day, such as times for the morning of the wedding, locations for photos, any particular photos you would like taken on the day etc. It is best to meet this closer to the wedding, rather than any earlier, to ensure that you have all of the finer details for your day confirmed.

Having photographed over 1000 weddings, I know exactly what details and moments should be captured on your big day. I will cover everything from your dress, jewellery & flowers to your reception décor and wedding cake. However, if there are any little details or special guests you would like a photo of, you can let me know. This will all be discussed at our pre-wedding meeting.

Generally, the editing process takes approx 12-14 weeks. However, during busy times of the year it can sometimes take 14-16 weeks. Each wedding is edited in order of date, before the images are processed by a professional colour corrector and then uploaded to your own personal online gallery.

Once all of your images are ready for viewing, we will email you with the link and password for your secure online gallery. You will also receive high resolution copies of all of your images on a USB key, print ready copies of all of your images from this gallery.

As no two weddings are the same, the amount of photos will always vary. However, it is normally between 400 and 700 photos.

No. I will carefully edit each wedding and remove any unwanted images (i.e. blurred focus, eyes closed etc.) to leave you with a selection of images that best represents your day.

Yes, you are free to share your high resolution images with your friends and family. However, if any of your wedding suppliers (florist, dress designer, hair/make-up) would like copies of your photos, they must contact PhotosbyJen directly. If sharing any images on social media, Jenny or PhotosbyJen must be tagged and credited on the post.

Once you have received the link and password for your wedding gallery, we will invite you back into the studio for an album meeting. During this meeting, you can view the sample albums again and decide which style you would like to go with. We would expect to receive your image selection for your album within approx 2-3 weeks of this meeting. We will design a sample album layout within approx 2 weeks of receiving your selection. Once you are happy with your layout and all required changes have been made, we will place the order for your album. Depending on the style of album you choose, your finished album can take between 4 & 8 weeks to be completed.

Please note, during busier periods, this process may take longer.

Yes, of course. An album can be added at any stage after you receive your photos.
